Grandton Applecross “reimagines” seniors’ living, says CEO John Frame

Grandton CEO John Frame has taken DCM LEADERS SUMMIT Masterclass guests how his new luxury vertical retirement village, Grandton Applecross in Perth, is “reimagining” the ageing journey.

Grandton Applecross, expected to complete in early 2024, is an 80-unit building constructed to 9C aged care standards, with its own 10-bed care suite attached.

The strata-titled one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments can be adapted and changed as a resident’s care needs evolve – for example, rails can be easily added to the bathrooms, and then removed for new residents.

“Our objective is to ensure that as far as we possibly can, to keep the residents in their own apartment for the end of days,” said John.

According to John, his impetus for Grandton Applecross was his experience moving his 94-year-old father from the retirement village where he had been happy into an aged care facility where he was not.

“It was brilliant care, but that six weeks… was the most difficult period. He didn’t want to be there.

“My father could have lived in his retirement village, had he been able to access cost effective care. In this particular building, he would have been able to access that and stay in his home,” John said.
