The family-owned Moran Health Care Group has bought Presbyterian Aged Care NSW & ACT’s aged care facility Westcott at Stockton in Newcastle’s CBD, as the Not For Profit continues to sell off the rest of its portfolio.
The Weekly SOURCE reported in December last year that Anglicare Sydney had taken over Presbyterian Aged Care’s assets and operations, including its residential aged care homes, home care services, and retirement villages in the Sydney metro and New England areas.
Presbyterian Aged Care NSW & ACT is now selling the remainder of its portfolio outside of Sydney and New England.
Shane Nicholson, National Director, Health, Aged Care & Retirement, for real estate business Commercial Collective, announced this latest sale and settlement.
“We would like to congratulate the purchaser Moran Health Care Group on the purchase, which brings the Moran name back to the Hunter having previously owned homes in the Region. Commercial Collective is proud to be part of bringing businesses back to Newcastle who provide employment and provide betterment to the community,” Shane said.

The recently fully accredited aged care facility consists of 122 beds, largely single rooms with ensuite bathrooms, and over 50 staff.
“Moran Health Care Group will continue the renovation works that have already commenced in the home to bring Moran Stockton up to the standards expected of Moran Homes whilst keeping with the history and seaside location of the property and in keeping with their values of respect, kindness, dignity and compassion,” Shane added.
Moran Health Care Group has three other aged care homes in Sydney in NSW – Moran Engadine, Moran Kellyville and Moran Sylvania and a fourth in VIC, Moran Roxburgh Park.
The group was founded by aged care industry veterans Doug and Greta Moran AO in the 1950s and today is headed by their eldest son Peter Moran.
