SA Senator Anne Ruston appointed Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care

1 min read

Anne Ruston, the new Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, was one of 10 women appointed to new Liberal Leader Peter Dutton’s first Shadow Cabinet.

“It’s an honour to have been appointed the Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care and Shadow Minister for Sport today,” said the SA Senator on Twitter.

“There’s a lot of work to be done and I’m looking forward to diving right in to hold this Government to account and create a healthier Australia.”

Anne served as Minister for Families and Social Services and Minister for Women’s Safety in the Morrison Government from 2019 to 2022. With Greg Hunt announcing that he would retire at the election, former Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Ruston would take over as Health and Aged Care Minister if his government was re-elected.

Before entering politics, Anne was a commercial rose grower and Chief Executive of the National Wine Centre. She was appointed to the Senate to fill a casual vacancy caused by the resignation of Mary Jo Fisher in 2012.
