The private aged care operator's five-storey, 150-bed home on the Sunshine Coast, 70km north of Brisbane, opened in October last year, and features high-end fixtures and finishes such as kitchenettes, Japanese bidets, luxury linen, and a Vitaly and Wellness Centre where residents can access a gym and allied health services.
The $44 million project has now been recognised by Masters Builders Queensland, which has awarded builder McNab Best Aged Care Building in Queensland 2024. It now enters the national event.
"We are incredibly proud to take home this award for our third project with our valued client Rockpool Residential Aged Care, which we delivered ten weeks ahead of program!" McNab said in a social media post.
Rockpool is one of a handful of aged care providers in Australia building new aged care homes. It operates Rockpool Morayfield, 50km north of Brisbane, Rockpool Carseldine, 16km north of Brisbane, which opened in August 2022, and Rockpool Songbird Oxley, which is under construction 10km south of Brisbane and expected to open next year.
Rockpool was founded in 2016 by Bill Summers, who had previously established Ashmore Aged Care in the 1980s and co-founded Domain Aged Care, now known as Opal HealthCare, in 2002.
