Waikerie Lifestyle Village will become the biggest land lease community in South Australia’s Riverland region with the addition of 81 new homes.

Under the $20 million expansion announced last month, the village – located around 170km northeast of Adelaide – will expand to accommodate up to 225 total residents.

According to Stephen Edwards (pictured), CEO of parent company Edwards Group, the hope is that it will attract new jobs and services to the town.

"We believe it’s going to be of huge benefit to Waikerie, both in the short term during the construction phase but importantly in the long term, moving forward,” he told the ABC.

“It’s certainly one of the biggest developments in terms of housing that Waikerie has seen in recent times.”

The first residents are expected to move into the new homes next May.
