Fresh Hope Care receives rezoning approval for 7.3ha development in Sydney’s West

Fresh Hope Care, which is the NSW arm of Churches of Christ, has been given the go-ahead to seek approval for 650 independent living units, a 240-bed residential aged care home and affordable key worker housing on its 7.3ha site in Pendle Hill, 30km west of Sydney’s CBD.

Fresh Hope Care successfully received rezoning approval for the site, which currently houses Fresh Hope Care Pendle Hill Retirement Community, on 18 March after talks between Cumberland City and the NSW Government.

Existing uses on the site include a 190-bed residential aged care facility, 86 independent living units, a place of public worship (Pathways Community Church) and six single-storey residential dwellings.

The rezoning will allow the Not For Profit to expand its proposal to house 930 permanent residents in 16 buildings in what is described as "one of the largest intergenerational campuses in the Southern Hemisphere”. The tallest new building will be eight storeys in height.

In addition, its heritage buildings Dunmore House and Ashwood House will be retained.
