The sod was turned on Serenitas’ first Queensland development, a $122 million land lease community, the Thyme Lifestyle Resort in Hervey Bay.
The Hervey Bay development is one of two villages under the Thyme Lifestyle banner, with the other located in Evans Head, 71km south of Byron Bay.
The focus of the land lease community is to create affordable housing in picturesque locations for over 50s, with no exit or Deferred Management Fees being applied.
Residents will also be able to keep 100% of capital gains on their sale price when they decide to leave the village.
Kirbro Contracting was awarded the $2.2 million Stage 1 Operational Works Package, with civil works including stormwater, power, sewer system work and the first stage of road construction to be completed by April with construction of the village expected to begin in mid-2021.
Councillor Seymour welcomed the new development, saying it would create new jobs in the area and boost the local economy.
Stage 1 of Thyme Lifestyle Resort is now selling, with new homes starting from only $329,000.
