The Melbourne-based Not For Profit provider of residential aged care, home care and retirement living services has appointed a new CEO with Petra Neeleman, former Executive Director, stepping down after 33 years with the organisation.

Penni Michael has more than 25 years’ experience in the aged and community Sector, including in research, policy analysis, and procedure development. She has held several executive roles at MiCare, which specialises in care for migrant communities, since joining the organisation in 2012. Prior to being appointed CEO, she was Deputy CEO.

"I have big shoes to fill following Petra’s expertise," said Penni.

In August 2023, MiCare announced Jos van de Ven had been appointed Chairperson, replacing Ignatius Oostermeyer, who had been with MiCare for 24 years, including 14 years as Chairperson. Jos had been on the board since 2017, and also donated his time to MiCare's Finance Audit and IT committees.

Penni's role takes effect from 12 July 2024.
