Castle Cove Golf Club on Sydney's North Shore latest to see retirement living as a saviour – just 17 homes

A $33.6 million development, including a three-storey independent seniors living complex with 17 units, is proposed to keep Castle Cove Country Club, 12km north of Sydney's CBD, "financially viable".

The development also includes the construction of a new clubhouse building, 76 basement carparks, and landscaping works.

"It is envisaged that the seniors living residences will be an extension of the club community. The residences will be strata titled (owned by each occupier), with a standard Owners’ Corporation in place. There will not be a third-party operator of the residences due to the small scale nature of the project,” said the club.

The Club and its development partner Taylor Developments Group has lodged the development application with Willoughby City Council.

The 106-apartments Watermark Residences at Newgreens Chatswood, being built on part of the Chatswood Golf Course, 10km north of Sydney's CBD, in a partnership with the golf club and Pariter, is due for completion in Q4 2024.

Also in NSW, property developer Third.i’s retirement division ThirdAge has approval to build a $120 million retirement living resort at Merewether Golf Club, 3km southwest of Newcastle's CBD.
