Living Choice gains planning approval for new luxury retirement living project in Adelaide

1 min read

110 premium independent living apartments, featuring two- and three-bedroom designs across eight levels, have been approved.

The 3,833msq site is located in the award-winning WEST master planned community within the City of Charles Sturt in West Lakes, Adelaide’s western suburbs.

The approval confirms Living Choice as one of the leading privately-owned developers of retirement living in Australia, with Living Choice Parkwood on QLD's Gold Coast, Living Choice Galston in Sydney, and Living Choice Mount Barker, SA, all under construction.

In January 2024, the operator, in tandem with the private aged care operator Opal HealthCare, purchased the remaining land at Julia Farr Centre, known as Highgate Park, in Fullarton, for an integrated living development for $42 million. In April last year, Living Choice also announced a $100 million land lease community resort in Murray Bridge, SA.

At the heart of the West Lakes development, the first floor will showcase a grand foyer and central library, with facilities including a magnesium indoor pool, gym, infrared sauna, BBQ terrace, resident cinema, and a 120-seat auditorium. The seventh floor will feature an exclusive resident sky bar, gourmet kitchen, and an outdoor terrace.

Living Choice Australia CEO, Darren Steele (pictured), highlighted the project’s significance for the privately owned group, with company directors Ian Tregoning and Graham Hobbs both having strong ties to Adelaide’s western suburbs.

“WEST is a truly remarkable location for those who love golf, swimming, cycling, shopping, and entertaining," he stated.

"The higher-level apartments will boast stunning views of the coastline, the Grange Golf Course, and the Adelaide CBD.”

“Our vision for this project is to introduce a new level of luxury for active retirees, offering exclusive, world-class amenities, a vibrant, like-minded community, and a dedicated wellness hub.”

Construction is now anticipated to start in 2026.
