Odyssey Robina breaks ground on its fourth and final tower

1 min read

An eight-storey building with 68 apartments, developed in consultation with residents, will be the final addition to Phil Usher's first venture of operating private aged care under the Retirement Village Act in Robina on Queensland's Gold Coast.

“Our market has been asking for more two bedroom and even three-bedroom options, and the new building, Biarritz, will offer both," Phil said at a sod turning ceremony, with building company Mettle.

“We’ll be adding a lot more amenity in Biarritz to promote a greater variety of activities and build on our sense of community by expanding socialisation spaces.”

Construction officially begun on 5 September, which when complete, will see Odyssey Robina feature a total of 221 apartments.

Phil, who featured on the cover of Issue 82 of SATURDAY subscription magazine, is building from scratch six village communities valued at $600 million-plus in six years, with the financial help of Australian Retirement Trust (created from the merger of Sunsuper and QSuper).

Odyssey offers a hybrid model combining retirement and resort-style living with higher-level care. Operating under the Retirement Villages Act, residents purchase their apartment and pay for aged care services according to their needs. The offering includes a 24/7 comprehensive care team with a minimum of two nurses on every shift.
