The Not For Profit has announced that the former Premier will replace long-time CEO Dr Stephen Judd, who is stepping down on August 31 after more than 25 years in the role.
Mr Baird served for more than a decade in the NSW Parliament as Member for Manly and was the 44th Premier of NSW between 2014 and 2017 after serving as Treasurer from 2011 to 2014.
The former Premier has also held multiple executive roles in the banking industry including for NAB, HSBC and Deutsche Bank and most recently as Chief Customer Officer – Consumer Banking at NAB in Australia.
HammondCare began searching for a replacement for Dr Judd – who has built up the operator from 250 clients and $8 million in revenue to over 25,000 clients and a 2019 revenue of $303 million – after he announced his plans to stand down in July 2019, and Mr Baird says he is thrilled to join the organisation.
“I didn’t have to look much further than their mission to see that this was a cause I wanted to be a part of – ‘Our passion is improving quality of life for people in need’. On a daily basis, living out the mission for HammondCare are 4,000 staff and 1,000 volunteers. I can think of no greater privilege than to help them care for some of the most vulnerable people across Australia,” he said.
He will take on the role from 1 September.
