Last Friday, work began on the $28 million redevelopment of Clayton Church Homes’ new Summerhill aged care facility in the Adelaide Hills. Work is expected to be complete by the end of 2023.
The redevelopment will increase the number of beds at Summerhill from 25 to 60, addressing a bed shortage in the area.
It will include at 20-bed memory support unit with sensory garden, café, community room, pop-up store, hairdresser, gym and private dining rooms for visiting guests.
CCH, which is affiliated with the Uniting Church, operates four aged care homes in Adelaide and 184 retirement units in 11 villages, mainly in the Adelaide Hills region.
Back in August when the development was first approved, CCH CEO Daniel Aitchison said the concept for the new Summerhills was achieved after several rounds of community, staff, resident and family consultation.
Local company Kennett Builders will oversee construction. The architects are Brown Falconer.
