Over-55s lifestyle community part of $400M housing plan in Adelaide

1 min read

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas announced more than 800 new homes will be built in a net zero-carbon community in Aldinga in Adelaide’s south which includes a lifestyle village, residents’ club and space for a rail line.

Villawood Properties Chief Executive Alan Miller (pictured) said the “seriously ground-breaking” project was “blazing a new path for mainstream sustainable housing and premium affordability for the entire country.”

“We haven’t seen all the elements of cost, design, sustainability, social connection and quality come together like this before in any mainstream housing project in Australia.

“Aldinga is rewriting how new communities are designed, how lifestyle and climate considerations are factored into them and how home buyers can far more easily access the property market.”

Villawood Properties and Renewal SA have been chosen for the project, in which there will be a mix of townhouses, detached homes and semi-detached homes built, with at least 25% affordable.

About 200 two- and three-bedroom homes will be part of an over-55s lifestyle village on the western side of the land, toward the beach.

Villawood Properties entered the South Australian market in 2021 and now has more than 5000 homes in the pipeline.
